What's new in K3.1 Pro

Moonshot describes K3.1 Pro as a post-trained version of Kimi K3 and its most capable open-weight model so far. According to Moonshot:

  • Fewer made-up claims. On Moonshot's internal stress test, the share of answers with an unsupported claim fell from 23.35% with Kimi K3 to 6.85%.
  • Stronger at practical work. Moonshot highlights coding, 3D modelling and finance, including spreadsheet and office-document tasks.
  • Always thinks first. K3.1 Pro reasons before it answers, and Vani shows a live "Thinking" timer while it does.
  • 1 million tokens of context, enough for long documents and large codebases.

Moonshot plans to publish the full open weights in early November.

Use it in Vani Chat

Pick Kimi K3.1 Pro in the model menu. It's on Plus and higher, at the same allowance rate as Kimi K3.

Use it on the API

The model ID is moonshotai/kimi-k3.1-pro. It works with the OpenAI-compatible Chat Completions and Responses APIs and the Anthropic-compatible Messages API, with streaming and tool calling.
